The Hornell YMCA hosts a wide variety of fitness challenges and special events designed to motivate individuals and families of all ages to stay active and engaged. From step challenges and strength competitions to fun runs, wellness weeks, and themed group exercise classes, there are opportunities for everyone—whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or looking to push your limits. These events encourage members to set personal goals, track progress, and challenge themselves in a supportive, welcoming environment. Along the way, participants can celebrate achievements both big and small, connect with others who share similar goals, and enjoy a strong sense of community camaraderie that makes staying healthy both rewarding and fun.

Yoga with a Purpose!

At Hearts & Paws Feline Yoga, every pose supports more than your body. Your participation helps care for and socialize cats while giving you a chance to relax, reset, and connect—with yourself and with animals who need love. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or brand new to the mat, this class is about joy, compassion, and community. Donations to the Hornell Area Humane Society are strongly encouraged.

Tri @ the Y Indoor Challenge

The Tri @ the Y Indoor Challenge is a fun, inclusive indoor triathlon-style event designed for all fitness levels, from first-timers to experienced athletes. Participants rotate through three back-to-back 15-minute segments - swimming in the pool, cycling on an indoor stationary bike, and running or walking on a treadmill - for a total of 45 minutes of activity. Each participant is assigned a specific start time and completes all three phrases consecutively. Results are divided by age group and by gender. This weather-proof, beginner-friendly event offers a supportive, community-focused atmosphere and a great intro to multi-sport fitness.
